New York 2004
The first East Coast Collectors Meeting was organized by ship model collector Tom Haughton at his Alma Mater, the New York State University Maritime College, Fort Schuyler, Bronx, New York, on May 21-22, 2004. At Tom's invitation, collectors, model dealers and producers, many of whom spent the weekend at the College's dormitory rooms, met each other for the very first time at the Maritime Industry Museum. The program included informative lectures and discussions on naval history, model production, camouflage and other related subjects on the first day (Friday) and an exhibit and sales event on the second day (Saturday), after which participants enjoyed an informal dinner at nearby Tosca's Restaurant. Since the meeting coincided with New York's Navy Week, a number of participants prolonged their stay for an extra day for sightseeing and ship visits.
